I want to show a movie on campus as part of Black History Month. What do I need to do?

Answer

Showing a movie outside the classroom is considered a public performance (see Video tab in Face-to-Face Classes ). This requires permission from the copyright holder or purchasing a license to openly show the film on campus. One resource for purchasing this license is Swank Motion Pictures, Inc. (www.swank.com) . Also, whenever possible, DMACC Libraries will purchase public performance rights when purchasing educational videos. Conditions and limits may apply. Most feature films (Hollywood-type videos) purchased by DMACC do not include public performance rights. Please check with your campus library for more information.
