I want to find images that I can easily use in my lectures, presentations, etc. Are there images out there that I'm free to use without worrying about copyright?

Google and Google Images now have available on its Advanced Search the option to limit your search by "Usage Rights". This allows you to find documents and/or images that have been labeled for re-use. Creative Commons is another such resource that allows you to search others works and also explains how you can use the Creative Commons process to license your own work.
